Pretty Lady Tomissina ("Lady")

Lady our loving Golden retreiver crossed over the rainbow bridge on August the 20th. In her short lifespan of 6 years, she brought much joy and happiness to us and many others she met as a Therapy dog. Her overly friendly attitude and desire to meet people lead me to believe that I should share this wonderful dog with others through the Dog Therapy program. After passing her CGC and TDI tests with flying colors, she began her work as a therapy dog at the age of two and a half in the Des Moines,
IA area. She was active in visiting the Mercy hospital pediatric, physical rehabilitation and children's psychiatric wards, an Alzheimer day care center and Mercy retirement centers. As a consequence, she has earned both the TDIA and TDIAOV volunteer awards from TDI over a period of 18 months before leaving IA.

After moving to Laurel, MD , she served as a FIDOS/ TDI therapy dog another 18 months. She regularly visited the Holy Cross and Hillview nursing homes, was involved with the DEAR remedial reading program and the dAp (disability Awareness project) demo's for FIDOS and visited several schools for the handicapped children as a TDI dog. Lady will always be remembered for her friendly licks, paw shakes and the joy she brought to others through the therapy dog programs.
