Smooth Collie
DOB: 9/11/2004
Hi, I am Brody. I am a smooth collie; I am not a greyhound, I have not been shaved. This is what smooth collies look like!
I started off life as a puppy in training to be a Fidos service dog, but unfortunately, I had severe food allergies that made it impossible for me to be a working dog. That's okay, because my puppy raiser got to adopt me. I am following in the footsteps of the wonderful therapy dog, Nordic - my job is to help Fidos' clients in training learn how to work a dog - it is a great job because I get to help people and get to be my mom's forever dog too!
At home, I mentor the many hearing and service dogs that come through our house. I still know how to do the specialized assistance dogs skills, and am alert for the opportunity to be help my mom open drawers or take off shoes, ESPECIALLY when some eager beaver young service dog in training is nearby!
I also do some therapy work, and enjoy the attention I get at demos and visits. There aren't many people who know what a smooth collie is, and now that I am no longer a service dog, I get to be petted as much as I want!
I also work with my handler doing competitive obedience. I have earned a CD, and currently have two legs towards my Rally Novice title. I think we will earn that title very soon, and in the next year, we think we may be ready to start working towards that CDX title.
All in all, I think things turned out just right here!
