Liesl and Grete, affectionately known as “The Wiener Twins,” started entertaining nursing home and hospital patients when they were just puppies. After graduating from four obedience courses, the girls joined Fidos to continue to put big smiles on people’s faces. Since then, they have been awarded AKC’s Canine Good Citizen certificate and are Therapy Dogs International (TDI) certified. Liesl is very gentle, loving and well mannered (except when it comes to mooching treats). She eagerly performs an extensive repertoire of tricks for which she was awarded Fidos’ Best Tricks award – she loves being rewarded with carrots (they help keep her girlish figure). Liesl thrives on snuggling with patients at Montgomery General and Holy Cross Hospitals, and residents at the Brooke Grove Nursing Center. The girls enjoy wearing hats and costumes when they participate in Fidos’ demonstrations and information booths – they have both won Fidos’ annual Best Dressed awards. Liesl and Grete have participated in Fidos’ DEAR reading program since its inception, and currently students read to them at the Glenwood Library.
